Where the Locals Grow – Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market & More

Written by Laurie Mosley

One thing that you can always hang your hat on to take place in late April is the Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market. The Grand Opening Celebration of the 2018 season took place on Saturday, April 28.

Home grown hospitality will be served each Saturday through October 27 from 8 am-1 pm at 410 S. Rogers. With 33 vendors participating, there is something for everyone in the family.

Local farm-raised produce, eggs and meat can be found down every aisle.New to this year’s market is Marroquin Farms offering gourmet salad mix and salad bowls.
Locally sourced honey, salsas, jams, jellies and homemade canned goods of every variety are a favorite among the shoppers. Jams, Jellies and More have been a vendor with the market for 16 seasons serving customers with a smile.
One of the big reasons to get to the market early is the selection of baked goods which does not last long. What would sweets be without a savory selection? You will also find homemade tamales to go along with the jar of salsa you bought on aisle 3.
If handmade items, natural soaps and learning from non-profit organizations like the Ellis County Master Gardeners is more your speed, the Downtown Farmers Market has you covered there too.
