- 5:30 PM: Doors Open – Community gathering and welcome

6:00 PM: Military Pigeon Release – A symbolic gesture honoring those who served and sacrificed

7:00 PM: Official Proclamation – Delivered by Waxahachie City Council, formally declaring Waxahachie a designated Purple Heart Community
We invite all guests to bring photographs or mementos of their loved ones who have served in the United States Armed Forces, especially those who have received the Purple Heart.

About the Purple Heart Community Program
The Purple Heart Community Program, established by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, allows cities and towns across the nation to show their support and appreciation for the sacrifices of our Purple Heart recipients. By becoming a Purple Heart City, Waxahachie publicly acknowledges our combat-wounded veterans and commits to fostering a veteran-supportive environment through civic engagement, visibility, and public remembrance.
This ceremony is not only a moment of recognition but a call to continued action—ensuring that our Purple Heart heroes are never forgotten and always honored within our community fabric.
